The Power Of Doa’
Ramadan is the month of Mercy. Do you know what that means- it means Ramadan is a month of duas. The last ten nights are a great time we should be immersed in making duas. Duas from the sunnah; Duas for our family, parents, aunts and uncles; Duas for our brothers and sisters; Duas for our children; Duas for our work and projects; Duas, duas and more duas.
Pour your soul out to the One Who Owns it.
Offload, unburden, discharge, and let everything that has been bothering you fall through your lips.
Unpeel each layer of your heart and submit all pieces back to the One who can hold all the pieces together.
The One Who Inspires You to ask will respond!!!
You probably know many things about DUA. That DUA is indeed a weapon of the believer, the only thing that can change Qadar is an accepted dua. That the best times to make dua is just before breaking fast, Fridays after asr, while travelling and when it is raining etc. That it’s sunnah to face qiblah when making dua and repeating it three times.
But did you know about being in the right frame of mind while making dua? Your state of mind, a.k.a having yaqeen, makes a huge difference to the outcome of your dua. It’s something I have experienced so many times. Every time you ask Allah for something with certainty that He will grant you what is best for you, KNOW THAT HE WILL.
Last summer I returned from holiday to find out that I’m being transferred from one institution to another. Apparently, they couldn’t find some important pieces of information in my records, some files must have been lost in transition. So, I kept getting phone calls, emails and messages asking for this and that. And if I can’t provide a copy of one specific document, I can’t receive housing allowance (standard for all jobs in the Middle East)
One day HR from the new institution messaged me and asked me to provide a copy ASAP. I had explained that I emailed, called and messaged many people at both institutions and how can I provide a copy of something if I was never given a copy of the document in the first place?
I stayed up most of the night making dua: “Oh Allah, it’s only YOU who can turn the situation over for me now. Everyone turned me back empty-handed. But You are the Ultimate changer of any situation. Let someone email me what I need tomorrow.”
I woke up in the morning and straight away checked my messages. There was nothing. But within seconds someone has whatsapped me, I opened and I saw that missing document. Allahu Akbar!!!
Many years ago, well before I got married or had kids, when I just started practising I made dua to live in Mecca or Medina with my family – granted.
I wanted to send my parents for Hajj and Umrah – granted.
Many community projects and charity projects – granted.
Buying my first house ‘mortgage-free’ – granted.
Having healthy children – granted.
And the list is endless…
Allah’s kingdom has no boundaries and His bounties have no limits. Ask with certainty that He will grant you what is best for you and know that He will.
Please keep me and my family in your duas during these blessed nights.
