Lecture 2: Leadership as a mother; Communication skills; Effective Delegation
In session two we will cover chapters four and five. You will learn how to tap into your leadership skills as a mother; how to communicate your needs for better bonding and understanding; and finally how to effectively delegate chores.
First of all, all women are leaders within their households, whether you realize this or not. The prophet saw said “Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. A woman is the guardian of her husband’s home and his children and she is responsible for them.” Which two things are women directly responsible for as mentioned in this hadith?
Firstly, ‘her husband’s home’- you are responsible for creating a loving atmosphere at home where everyone can relax and be happy with who they are.
Secondly, children- raise them, teach them, inspire them, motivate them, help them learn and become a better version of themselves. You will learn about three specific leadership qualities needed to fulfil these two duties rightfully: that’s having a vision/purpose, hard work and patience. How can you attain these qualities in the light of Quran and Sunnah? We will address this question in detail.
Another important skill needed by all mothers is effective communication. Patience doesn’t mean suffering in silence. A lot of mothers choose to silently endure struggles and don’t seek out help. In doing so, you build up resentment and turn so bitter. Burnout and nervous breakdown among mothers are very common nowadays.
You will learn how to clearly communicate your needs and don’t be shy of seeking help when needed. You will also learn how to effectively delegate chores as a mother, in a way that evokes your child’s cooperation and a will to obey inshaallah.
