Allah is Ar Razzaq…

My 10-year-old son woke up on Monday morning and refused to have breakfast. I didn’t insist as we often have brunch anyways. Around 11 am I offered something and he said he was fasting that day. I beamed with joy and asked
– How come? You just decided to fast?
– No, sheikh asked us to fast
– Which sheikh?
– Imam of Masjid Rahman (our local mosque). He said if we fast today he would take us out for a meal.
– How nice of him, mashaAllah. So who is fasting?
– Me, Aboody, Abdullah and German Abdullah.
– He asked you all to fast?
– Yes, basically we were sat in the masjid talking after salah. And he approached us and said “Why don’t you all fast tomorrow as it’s Monday. And I’ll take you out somewhere for iftaar? So we had all agreed to fast
– MashaAllah mashaAllah, God bless him. He will take you after Magreb salah?
– Yes inshaAllah. After magreb salah
– I’ll make some pastries or something nice for when you break your fast, something like a quick nibble. InshaAllah
But I had to run so many errands that day I couldn’t even cook. I had to go to register the girls at a local school. So twice I went in to fill out forms and pay. I had to walk to the ATM in heat to withdraw cash. I had to go to the tailors to get the girls measured and school uniforms stitched. And I had a phone call from the bank to pick up a new card and activate my new account (banks merging so a new account with the new bank had to be activated )I was so tired of being in and out of the house so many times. ” Adult life sucks,” I thought to myself. I hate being the responsible one – Oh how I enjoyed the carefree days back in the village, slow pace of life, away from modern-day and modern life problems.
Anyways, when I finally got in the last thing I wanted to do was bake that pastry.
– But Ibrahim is fasting, I thought. I really wanted to quickly fix something for him, something he can have to break fast with. He will be going out with his friends anyway. But it’s too late and I’m too tired. 15 mins until Magreb. Guilt kicks in …. And then Ibrahim walks in
– Mum, me and Abdullah were sat talking outside the masjid. A random man in a car stopped and handed us each this. And he hands me the foil container.
We open and see this: mantu, samosa and cheese pastry. OMG
-Allah Kareem. Allah brought your rizq. You can break your fast with this. Quick get ready so you aren’t late for salah.
God bless the sheikh who encouraged the boys to fast and took them all out on Monday evening. God bless the man who stopped his car and passed on this container. It’s nothing big and nothing to brag about, three small items of food. But it landed in the most deserving hands (fasting boy) at the perfect time (we literally had nothing in the house except bread as still sorting stuff out, clearing the kitchen, cleaning and rearranging after 4 months of being away. So haven’t been able to shop properly yet)
I watch him eat these and can’t stop thanking Allah, Ar Razzaq. He swt brought this for him to break his fast with – just what I had intended to make in the morning. And they got delivered just when he needed them. Allah Kareem, Allah Ar Razaq. Alhamdulillah, the giving hand will never know how comforting this was to me after a long and tiring day.
I remember the verse in the Qur’an “And whoever fears Allah, Allah will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent. (Qur’an 65:3)”
