“It took me years to realise that I don’t need to be perfect to be good. That all strong women can have weak moments too!”

Iroda Ahmed

Assalamualaikum,

Absolutely delighted to be connected with you all virtually.

I am Iroda Ahmed, British Muslim with Uzbek roots. My name “Iroda” suits me perfectly well, Alhamdulillah. It means Willpower in Uzbek, Strong Intention in Urdu and Determination in Arabic languages. Thanks dad for naming me 🙂

I grew up in the depths of Uzbek countryside, climbing trees, sliding down the rooftops and taking my cow for grazing in the fields. Yup that was my life hey!!!

Later, life took me to the UK where I earned BA in English and M.Ed in Teaching English. I am a UK qualified teacher and teacher-trainer by profession. I have been teaching since 2003. Teaching is my passion alhamdulillah. Currently I teach at a university.

I have six beautiful children alhamdulillah. I have always home-educated my children and run a homeschooling blog to record our journey since 2011. Head over to our blog for a wealth of information about Islamic homeschooling, parenting and motherhood in general.

🤭 Fun facts about me:

  • A spontaneous decision maker and often jump on last minute adventures. Love travelling with my crew and people asking “Are they all yours?” at the airports. I often get into trouble for not remembering their birthdays properly, if you know you know 😅
  • Also a recovering perfectionist. “It took me years to realise that I don’t need to be perfect to be good. That all strong women can have weak moments too!”
